Posted by admin On October - 6 - 2008

In this article, I’ll show some simple methods that anyone can use to find hot products on the net or to find ideas to create info products or physical products. This method also can be call as niche marketing strategy.

1. Choose five or more discussion forums that relates to any fields

Find out what the hot discussion, where many responses and views. Then, find out the problem discussed have any solutions or not? Some questions or statement can tell us that are a problem that want to be solved. For example “does anyone know how to.” “Where I can find…” or statements like “I can’t do this.” “I can’t do this..”. Also, to convince that problems needed solutions is there are a lot of threads that have the same questions. From here, you can grab these opportunities to create your own info products!

2. Using Overture Tools

Go to this site to access overture tools: http://inventory.overture.com

In the box, type one keyword like gift and you will see the results, how much some words are searched by peoples on the net. Pick any niche keywords form the results and enter into Google search box to research how many competitors or pages have using that keyword. Note here, all the pages or site that listed by the results are not sell the things but some of them just give the info. For example, we take “gourmet gift basket” that have about 12, 390 (so high) time search by Internet users. In Google, type “gourmet gift basket” (put a quote) to get a real competitors. The results are about 576,000 competitors or site that use that full keyword. So, you can choose this keyword to create your own gourmet gift basket online.

3. Find hot products at eBay and Amazon

Get into the ebay.com and make a search for gourmet gift basket. At the time I write this article, there are about 60 items for “gourmet gift basket” available in eBay. COM. The more quantities, the more it tell us that this products wanted by peoples. To make us more convince any products have a high demand, find any sellers at eBay that got a Power Seller certificate from eBay, where they make sales USD1000 and above for a month.

You also can download the hot products report by category at eBay. Click Sell menu > Seller Central > What’s Hot and you’ll be provided the link to download a report. Also, you can use any tools there to make a research.

The next step, go to amazon.com and click Top Sellers and browse the category that you want. For example Jewelry and Watches. You’ll see the top 100 products that have high sales. In that category you choose, there are also have more specific categories and you can browse it to find more related products. For example here, from the category Jewelry and Watches, then browse more to Watches category. So from the results, we can know which watches that ‘hot’ in Amazon.

Summary

Three methods discussed in this article are very useful if we use it rightly. It can give us a real and have high demands on the net. If the products you research have the high sales, so it means that products have a high demands and you can try to sell it using you niche website or using eBay. Remember the rules, “We must find a market first, not create a product first”.

I have a new niche simple product idea - and want to maximise my chances of success - where do I start?
I'm aware of the patent process, but the product may not qualify and I do not want to invest in a trademark just yet. The product is a simple stationary idea but it is definitely niche, and has huge volume potential…

Find a niche group of people and have them sign a non-disclosure statement! give them all samples of your product and get a survey of there thoughts!

Now you will know if you have a viable product!

once done! make, print, build, one thousand units, figure your cost per unit including any shipping, handling, and other related charges, find a "right price" above that, that you would be willing to sell for as a "loss leader" and see how it goes!

Take all the information you gather when you sell off the first 500 and build a business profile with all the figures to date!

Your now ready to approach a bank, or angle company to secure a business loan to go big time!

Its useful to know if you are in the US or UK (or somewhere else?)? …..Design registration is inexpensive compared with patenting (a patent is basically for items that have a functional novelty.).

Get some samples made up and see if you can interest potential buyers or even get advanced orders.

I can help with samples. I run a small R&D company. Get in touch if you would like more info.
